It's rates as a Black, 3 bar on the Enduro World Series scale of events.

Location
By car
By bike.
The Sandstone way, a 120 mile off road route comes via Alwinton.
There is lots of riding in the Valley outside of the Naughty Northumbrian Trails, which are private.
Iconic routes such as Clennell Street, the ride into Cocklafoot from Wyndy Gyle and further afield places such as Thrunton Woods and Wooler Common provide good trail riding.
Cycling here is a decent undertaking, but worth a look.
By rail.
The nearest station is Alnmouth, on the Eastern Mainline.
From there you can easily ride into Alnwick.
You'd then catch the Spirit Bus 15 to Rothbury, then the 16 onto Alwinton.
By air.
If you really must fly, then the nearest airport is Newcastle International airport, which has good international connections.
Hiring a car from the Airport and driving the 90 minute journey to the Valley is the easiest option.
By sea.
DFDS run a daily service from Amsterdam into the Port of Tyne.
It is a 12 hour crossing.
From there, it is a 90 minute drive to the Valley.
