NAUGHTY
NORTHUMBRIAN

4th-6th Sept

You've probably heard all about the Naughty, and you're right to listen to all the opinions out there.  Our signature Coquet valley mountain biking knees up is a way to get out into the wilderness, ride your bike on the edge and then kick back with like minded people at the end of the day.

This event isn't for anyone, but it is for everyone.

You think we're mad saying that right?

The truth is that this is event is hard.

It's rates as a Black, 3 bar on the Enduro World Series scale of events.

Physical: 1200-1600m 40-50km

Technical

But, you know what, there's immense satisfaction to be had in cracking life's challenges.

If you're competent, fit and willing to embrace a challenge with a wry smile, that embodies the very soul of the community culture round these parts, then this event is for you.

Camping is included in your entry fee for you and as many family/friends as you'd like to bring along as long as you're in a single unit.

Location

By car

By bike.

The Sandstone way, a 120 mile off road route comes via Alwinton.

There is lots of riding in the Valley outside of the Naughty Northumbrian Trails, which are private.

Iconic routes such as Clennell Street, the ride into Cocklafoot from Wyndy Gyle and further afield places such as Thrunton Woods and Wooler Common provide good trail riding.

Cycling here is a decent undertaking, but worth a look.

By rail.

The nearest station is Alnmouth, on the Eastern Mainline.

From there you can easily ride into Alnwick.

You'd then catch the Spirit Bus 15 to Rothbury, then the 16 onto Alwinton.

By air.

If you really must fly, then the nearest airport is Newcastle International airport, which has good international connections.

Hiring a car from the Airport and driving the 90 minute journey to the Valley is the easiest option.

By sea.

DFDS run a daily service from Amsterdam into the Port of Tyne.

It is a 12 hour crossing.

From there, it is a 90 minute drive to the Valley.
